If you are awarded compensation, the amount payable will be assessed in accordance with Norwegian legislation on compensatory damages. You are primarily entitled to compensation for direct losses, or expenses you have incurred as a consequence of your injury. If the injury has rendered you disabled, loss of earnings will be covered on top of any necessary and reasonable expenses. It is important that you keep all receipts.

If you have sustained a permanent and significant injury, i.e. warranting a medical disability rating of more than 15%, you may be entitled to permanent injury compensation. Permanent injury compensation is intended as financial compensation for the diminished quality of life caused by the injury.

When we inform you of our decision to award you compensation, we will also provide guidance on how to proceed in order to find the correct amount of compensation.

The assessment of compensatory damages is undertaken on a case-by-case basis. In other words, it is impossible to provide general guidance about the amount payable for a particular injury.
