To qualify for compensation for a patient injury, three conditions must be met. Please read the following carefully before applying for compensation.
Do I report my case to NPE or the county governor?
The county governor has authority to take action with regard to health personnel. NPE does not have this authority. We process applications for compensation and pay out compensation to those who are entitled to it.
Treatment abroad
Norwegian citizens who incur an injury when receiving treatment abroad cannot apply for compensation from NPE. Claims for compensation following injury should generally be directed to the treatment site.
